What's going on?

....is something you might be wondering right now.

"Are they ever gonna leave for Kenya?"
"What is this blog about?"
"Why the name?"

.... and I figured one of us should probably try to answer these questions.

So. Anyone?
Well, as no one else seems to volunteer, I, Hanna, also known as the Long-Post-Writer, will try to explain everything, AND keep it short. Impossible plan? I think so.

First off: What is going on?
- Well to be honest, that's been very much unclear for all of us. As Sofia wrote (and I did. In Swedish. I simply can't seem to see a difference between these two languages. I hope this is English. Is it?) our booked and payed-for tickets miraculously disappeared, we don't know how, and therefor we ask you to keep your accusing fingers pointed at no one or nothing, until we know what actually happened.
So, then we where suddenly not going on a trip. And our worlds pretty much fell apart. Well, not quite, but we were very dangerous to be around. (Except for Sofia and Ica, who kept positive and calm.Freaks*) Then, the booking lady worked extremely hard for three long days (thank you) and actually managed to get us new tickets. All of us were thrilled, and we super-glued our fallen-apart worlds together again. (Except for Sofia who didn't want to stay in Kenya longer, and Ica who was angry at the fact that we already weren't there. Freaks*)
Then we got some bad nes again. We had tickets alright. For three different flights. (yes, this resulted in some worlds falling apart again. "Super-glue can hold anything" - what a lie.)

At the moment you might be thinking "So... what IS going on?" and cursing the fact that "Long-Post-Writer" saw it as her task to explain it to you... and yes, this part really isn't helping me get to the point.
Well, THIS is what's going on.

  • Tomorrow(yes, yes... I know it's already today, but I refuse to acknowledge that, since I should be sleeping), at 12.15 Amica and Mikaela are boarding a plane with one teacher and 5 students from the Finnish-speaking school.
  • At 17.40 I and our schools principal will board a plane.

  • We'll arrive in Nairobi at the same time, that is 7.00 Wednesday morning.

  • On Wednesday at 17.40, the majority of the writers of this blog will board a plane; that is Crista, Emilia, Maria, Nora and Sofia.

  • They will arrive Thursday morning at 7.00.

How it ended up like this was at random but very, very unfortunate. I mean, we are extremely lucky to even be leaving for Kenya - at one point we actually weren't. But still. The ones leaving Wednesday will miss an entire day, and the ones leaving earlier, me included, are not very happy about this either - it doesn't feel right when it's not the whole of Team Kenya traveling together. It's not gonna be the same.

Luckily, the rest of the time we'll spend together. But more about our program later!
We'll all fly home at the same day the 15th. So, we lost 3 days and only gained one more. (Originally flying home the 14th)
But, yes, our journey is happening! We ARE leaving for Kenya!

Second: What is this blog about?
...is something you also might be thinking after reading a couple posts. And this blog is actually a descriptive summery of our cultural and geographical experience in Kenya! Yes, yes ... I know. So far it's been more of an "How to plan a trip to Kenya in 10 days" with all our "This is what I'm packing" and "Are we even going??".
But as said; we ARE going, and then pictures, videos and thoughts about, and from, Kenya will start appearing here daily! So, please be patient dear readers, please be patient.

One last thing that might be on your mind..

The name of the blog .... why?
I first made a blog on Wordpress, and "Team Kenya" and "Kenya adventure" and so on, were all taken.  And, since we were originally planning on staying exactly 10 days in Kenya I figured something with that could do. The "How to get lost.." -part comes from the fact that we're 8 unbelievably talkative and energetic girls... but most of the time we're completely lost and all over the place. Like "yrahöns" as we'd say in Swedish. (meaning dizzy chickens. describes us quite well, in my opinion) So, if we would somehow manage to get lost in Kenya on our 10 days - I wouldn't be surprised.
And when changing to blogspot... well, the name had grown on me, and I decided to keep it, since the others didn't seem to hate it.
And yes. I know. Our trip is now shorter than 10 days, but "How to get lost in
Kenya in 8 days" just doesn't have the ring to it, now does it?
So, no. Not changing.

There.
I told you it wouldn't be short, but maybe, just maybe, it was a little informative?
Now you know what's happening - we are leaving, in fact - we'll all be "so-long-Finland" in just 2 days! So the trip Is happening, and this blog ain't just a waste-of-space.
So keep reading, as we've already had our fair-share of excitement and don't really hope for more of the kind, I'm sure this trip WILL be worth reading about!
Come on, we're going to KENYA.
How could it not?

*Writes note: In my opinion Sofia and Ica are NOT freaks. In fact, their calm and happiness probably helped all of us, and their unhappiness with the situation later on, was perfectly understandable. We've all been on an emotional roller coaster these past days. The word freaks was just added as a lousy, failed attempt at being funny, and may be deleted if found offending.
